MAKING IT IN PLASTIC
Goodfish is the new name for a group of toolmaking and injection moulding businesses, originally stemming from the acquisition of Hi-Spec Precision Toolmakers Ltd., in Sep-10. Since then, we have added an array of additional skills such as component decoration and assembly that enable us to offer our clients a fully-integrated service.
We built up the group organically and through acquisition. We acquired the injection-moulding activities of Homelux Nenplas in Oct-11 followed by the injection-moulding & printing business plus (certain) fixed assets of Hytec PM Ltd (formerly Hytec Mouldings Ltd) in Apr-12. In Apr-13 we made another acquisition, part of an injection-moulding business based in Basingstoke, known as Holloid Plastics. Their clients are now happily serviced from our Cannock plant.
In Jan-15, we made our largest acquisition to-date. We acquired Powell & Harber (Precision Engineers) Ltd, a Worcester-based injection moulder and toolmaker, from its retiring owners. This more than doubled the size of Goodfish, giving us additional capacity and capability at the smaller weight range: P&H’s moulding preses (all either Arburgs or Negri Bossi machines) range from 35t to 270t. The P&H toolroom is much larger than Goodfish’s, with nine additional toolmakers to add to our three. With 12 toolmakers and two well-equipped toolrooms, and our own in-house design capability, we’re now much better placed to take on larger tooling orders.
The Goodfish group applies lean manufacturing principles in our integrated, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility to deliver a completed assembly at lower total cost than can be sourced overseas. Our customers call this ‘best cost’. Because of our lean systems, we are set up to meet compressed delivery schedules. We call this whole package ‘lean on-shoring’ because we are often told by customers that the total cost of doing business with us is lower than it is with Asian and Central European providers.
With an array of specialist tool-making equipment, supported by the latest wire-eroding and spark-erosion equipment, and state-of-the-art injection-moulding presses (ranging from 35-800 tonnes), combined with the latest thinking in flexible assembly set-ups, we are as well-equipped as anyone to supply a quality product at an effective price, on time in full.
If you need injection mouldings manufactured to ISO 9001:2008 quality standards, with all the controls and traceability that implies, then you have come to the right place. If you need tooling for injection-moulding or die-casting, or you need press tool wear parts, you’ve also come to the right place.
We’re based in Cannock and Worcester and deliver throughout the UK as well as internationally (currently to the USA, Ireland, Portugal, Hungary, Czech Rep., Poland and France). We also have our own transport. And it’s fast!
Quality is our religion; OTIF is our creed and value-for-money is what we aim to deliver.
